Harmione Granger: Cheat Sheet
get to know a little bit more
» Introduction
A lot of people think of Hermione as an annoyance. She isn't too good with first impressions, looks and dresses like a complete nerd, and is notorious for her bossy attitude. However, she also carries many admirable traits to make up for the bad. A sweet, bright, practical, ambitious, and logical girl, Hermione comes to Harry's rescue coutnless times. The Harry Potter series just wouldn't be the same without her. This section features a new angle of Hermione and goes deeper to where Miss Granger's concerned.

Hermione, like almost any other teenage girl, has had a number of run-ins with members of the opposite sex in her years at school. Here's our personal analysis discussing the possible romances she may have and what her current relationships with select young wizards mean. Information © Jen at BewitchedEmma.net.
Ron Weasley: Hermione befriended Harry Potter and Ron Weasley during her first year at Hogwarts. She was often regarded as the brains of the group, as every time a situation called for some high-powered thinking, Hermione was there to help. Ron and Hermione havd very unique dynamics, and their chemistry often produced some intense moments between the two, ranging from heated arguments to precious moments. Their sixth year at Howgwarts made this clear; after Hermione hinted to Ron that she was interested in him, she was extremely upset when Ron began dating Lavender Brown. After his breakup with Lavender, it was implied that Ron and Hermione made up in more ways than one. During their seventh year, they were much closer than they had ever been, and during the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione finally kissed him. They married some years later and had two children together: Hugo and Rose.
Harry Potter: Although Harry and Hermione were never presented as a couple, they were great friends throughout their years together at Hogwarts. They first met on the Hogwarts Express on their way to school, and hours later were placed into the Gryffindor house with each other. Hermione was kind of Harry's common sense; he always turned to her when he needed help or when simply seeking advice. Hermione helped Harry free his godfather, fight at the Ministry of Magic, and ultimately defeat the evil Lord Voldemort. They remained close friends even after their graduation, Harry's children with Ginny and Hermione's children with Ron all attending Hogwarts together nineteen years later.
Draco Malfoy: A relationship between Draco and Hermione seemed pretty much impossible from the start, but that doesn't mean they didn't make a fun couple to ship! The pair has all the elements of an exciting romance: passion, sex-appeal, strength, tragedy, intrigue, and power. Their opposition came from just about everyone and everywhere, making their relationship both riveting and exciting. Though they never became friends in the book series, we'd like to think that there was a mutual respect between the two in the end, leading to peace and esteem between their families and friends.
» Tart
Hermione may be polite, sweet, and a devout follower of school rules, but that's not always the case; when she really wants something, Hermione uses all of her abilities, intellect, and advantages to get it.
Warning: Spoilers!
(1) "I went looking for the troll... I
thought I could handle it." Tartness: * *
She lies for her best friends' sakes when things in The Sorcerer's Stone get really intense; Harry
and Ron are about to get in huge trouble when Hermione comes to the rescue, takes the blame, and later
shakes it off like it was nothing.
(2) One word: Umbridge Tartness: * * *
Hermione doesn't like Professor Dolores Umbridge from the start. She talks back to her during their first
class of fifth year, and at the end of the term, sets Umbridge up in a trap in the Forbidden Forest.
(3) "Not in the Restricted Section..." Tartness: * * *
In the Sorcerer's Stone film version, Ron and Harry are debating over whether or not they should
try and find out anything about Nicholas Flamel in the library over Christmas. Ron says something similar
to, "But we've looked a thousand times!". Hermione, looking very smug and secretive, lowers her voice:
"Not in the Restricted Section."
(4) "V-V-Voldemort." Tartness: * * * *
In Order of the Phoenix, Hermione says Voldemort's name for the first time, even when Ron won't.
She just keeps getting braver and braver.
(5) Blackmail! Tartness: * * * *
Ouch. In Order of the Phoenix, Hermione blackmails the notorious Rita Skeeter into writing a piece
on Harry for The Quibbler. This was an ingenius plan and won Harry a lot of respect from his
fellow students who had really been starting to get to him.
(6) Dumbledore's Army Tartness: * * * *
We all know that Harry was voted the leader for Dumbledore's Army (the Defense Against the Dark Arts
club the trio started in order to help their friends learn real defense), but who was it that had the
original idea of rebelling against Umbridge? Hermione, of course! Our favorite heroine concerned about
every rule in the book? We think not.
(7) Smack! Tartness: * * * *
In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione snaps when she hears Malfoy making fun of the trio's dear
friend and teacher Hagrid. Our girl flat-out smacks Draco right across the face! Ron even has to hold
her back before does anything else (like pull out her wand).
» Life-Saver
Because she sometimes seems like just a know-it-all with horribly bushy hair, Hermione Granger doesn't always get the credit she deserves. We're not talking about her classwork here, either; we're talking about Hermione the lifesaver.

What Does Hermione Look Like?
It's a rather controversial question, for us fans that care, at least: what does Hermione Granger look like? While we can never be completely sure (as she is a figment of J.K. Rowling's incredible imagination), analyzing her book descriptions, cover illustrations, and alter-ego Emma offers us a sharper idea...
(1) Perhaps she's not Emma Watson...
Though maybe not as striking as seventeen-year-old Emma Watson, you'll notice that when Emma's in her
school robes and bushy hair, she does resemble a certain someone; you'll even notice Emma/Hermione's
freckles if you look closely!
(2) ... but she's not homely, either!
J.K. Rowling never uttered the word ugly when describing Granger in the novels. It was simply never
said. And you
know why? Because our beloved Hermione is not one ounce ugly. Harry Potter himself even
says so, circa Phoenix:
"And it might have been a good idea to mention how ugly you think I am too," Hermione added as an
afterthought.
"But I don't think you're ugly," said Harry, bemused.
May we also point out that Viktor Krum becomes her boyfriend in Book Four? (It is also in that book that Hermione gets her "rather large front teeth" shrunken, leaving her only with bushy hair; which, as Emma Watson has proven, doesn't make you hideous.)
(3) What the Text and Pictures Suggest
Alright, if you need some clarity, read an excerpt from The Sorcerer's Stone describing Hermione
at age eleven, when Harry and Ron first meet her on the Hogwarts Express:
"She had a bossy sort of voice, lots of bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth."
And according to most book illustrations, Hermione appears as a skinny, thick-haired dishwater blonde with big, clear brown eyes:
