What Emma Wore

At this glamourous National Portrait Gallery Viewing, Emma was a Burberry beauty. She featured a classic cream colored bandage wrap scrunch dress and platform sandal heels, both by Burberry. To add some spunk to the outfit, Emma featured a gorgeous silver embellished belt. She also carried a black clutch and black women's suit jacket.

Dress Guide

The Outfit
First off you are going to look for a bandage type scrunch dress. Look for a mid-thigh length dress that you can scrunch up with out exposing too much of yourself. You will also want to look for a halter top type neck which will help it define your bust line. This outfit does not need to be belted, but you should find a dress featuring something that will define you torso.

The Shoes
Emma wore Burberry Platform sandals. To find this, look for a strap over the top with a metal circle in the middle. There should also be a strap around the ankle. You will also need to have a strap going up the top of the foot connecting the two other straps. Try to stick with black or nude if your dress is black.

The Other Stuff
Firstly, we will start with the belt. A plain leather belt can work but might be a bit boring. Look for a simple darker silver studded belt. If your dress has embellishment on it, avoid an attention seeking belt. Next the jacket. This isn't required, however will keep you warm if you chose to wear this in the colder seasons. Try and look for a black or nude colored (if dress is black) coat. And lastly, the clutch. These are easy to find, but stick with the leathery material, black or nude colors work best. If your dress is light, use black. Vice versa for a black dress.

Hair & Make-Up Guide

Make Up
The look:   The girl next door.
For even skin, start by using a luminescent sheer foundation (Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation). Apply a thin line of brown eyeliner (Clinique Quickliner in Dark Chocolate) as close to the top lash as possible, then dust eyelids with a nude eyeshadow (NARS Cream Eyeshadow in Cosmic Girl). Coat your eyelashes twice with black mascara (Smashbox Bionic Mascara in Jet Black). Apply a very light dusting of pink blush (Stila Convertible Color in Lillium) to the apples of your cheeks, and finish with a swipe of icy, but not shiny, pink lipgloss (Stila Lip Rouge in Smooch).

Hair
The hairstyle:   A casual, messy bun.
Straighten your hair in layers and part it on the side. Using big rollers (Conair Easy Start 20 Roller Setter), take small strands (about the width of two fingers) of your hair and wrap them to achieve Emma's waves. Make sure not to curl the bangs too much; Emma's are straight until they reach her brow bone. Take your hair out of the rollers and, using a comb to keep from ruining the waves, carefully comb your hair back to just above the nape of the neck. Pull your hair into a messy bun and secure it with a rubber band. Set everything with hairspray (White Rain Extra Hold Hairspray) if needed.
